Thanks is for Giving - Seasonal Sayings and Gently Falling

Here's a shaped card that I stamped for my Tech club swap this month. The theme was "Thanksgiving" or to use a sketch from Card Sampler magazine, which was this shaped dress with an apron. I used my Brayer to add layers of blended color across the dress and used Gently Falling and Seasonal Sayings stamp sets from Stampin' Up! to carry the Thanksgiving theme.

I used the template from the magazine to cut the dress shape onto a top-fold card of Very Vanilla. Then I used a Brayer to first add Daffodil Delight ink across the middle of the card, at an angle. Then a few more rolls of the Brayer with Tangerine Tango and edged with Bravo Burgundy ink. To finish, I sprayed the brayered piece with Champagne Shimmer Paint mixed with rubbing alcohol in one of our Spritzer Bottles. This blended the colors a bit more and it also added a pretty shimmer to the card. Finally, I stamped a few leaves from Gently Falling in Illuminate Ink randomly over the dress front. This is a pigment pad from the Holiday Catalog. It is such a beautiful soft shimmer and I just love using it!


For the apron, I also used the magazine template to cut my shaped. Then I stamped the leaves from Gently Falling on the back of the Vellum in the same colors of ink and stamped the sentiment from Seasonal Sayings in Black StazOn on the front. I fastened the Vellum Apron to the card front with Glimmer Brads. Here is a closer look at the Vellum apron overlay. There is a lot of shimmer on this card and the gold Glimmer Brads were a great touch of extra glitter.

TIP: Classic inks may smear on Vellum, so let them dry well before handling or stamp on the back side of the vellum for a softer look. Try using StazOn ink for sentiments on vellum.

{Inside} - I used a strip of Bravo Burgundy cardstock cut with the Tasteful Trim Big Shot XL die to add a touch of dress maker to the inside of this card - it also covers the Glimmer Brad legs that are poked through from the front of the card.
