Bigz Autumn Accents - Fall cards

I love autumn and it's rich colors, crisp evenings and falling leaves. This new Bigz die from Stampin' Up! is called Autumn Accents and can be found in the Holiday Catalog. It also includes an acorn image which I somehow managed to NOT incorporate on this card! Tomorrow is the Stampin' Up! Denver Regional and this is one of the cards that I will be swapping. I'm excited to spend the Saturday with a room full of other Stampin' ladies, including a few of my favorites, Jacque, Shari and France!

For this card, I die cut the leaves from Autumn Accents in the Big Shot in a variety of colors, including Old Olive, More Mustard and Tangerine Tango. Then I sponged the edges with a Sponge Dauber in Rich Razzleberry ink.

I stamped the leaves using the new Illuminate ink pad, which is sparkly and gorgeous and I am in LOVE with it! You just can't see the sparkle in this photograph!

Finally I sprayed all the leaves pretty heavily with a mixture of rubbing alcohol and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, using the Spritzer Bottles. These leaves are SPARKLING! The sentiment here is from the stamp set From My Heart and punched with the Wide Oval Punch. I also used this stamp set for the inside of the card - see below. I pulled a center thread of a strip of Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon to get a pretty ruffle for this card. The Perfect Plum strip is also stamped in Illuminate ink and the bottom is die cut with the pretty, tiny scallop piece from Finishing Touches Edgelits.

Pleasant Poppies - Neutrals

I used the background stamp Pleasant Poppies from Stampin' Up! on this neutral, monochromatic card. The background stamp is stamped in Whisper White Craft Ink onto Soft Suede cardstock and embossed with White Embossing Powder. I added a few little flowers in Crumb Cake, punched with one of the Itty Bitty Punches flowers and centered with the tinies pearl of our adhesive backed Pearls.

Heat Embossing with such high contrast - White EP on a dark cardstock - is the most important time to use the Embossing Buddy, that little pillow of powder. Just swipe the pillow over the cardstock before you stamp the image. Then dust with Embossing Powder, tap off and check for any stray pieces of Embossing Powder. Brush those away gently, with a paintbrush and finally, heat set the Embossing Powder with your Heat Gun.

The bow is a Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon, tied in a 'bunny ears' bow, with no ends. I also used the Tulip Frame Border Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the Very Vanilla layer. The sentiment is from the From My Heart stamp set.

Here's another variation of this same card with a narrow strip for the main element. I didn't add the tiny flowers embellishment to the panel and moved the sentiment to the left side for a better balance. The image is also stamped on Early Espresso cardstock and matted onto Basic Black.

Recipe:
Stamps: Pleasant Poppies, From My Heart
Ink: Early Espresso, Whisper White
Cardstock: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso
Accessories: Embossing Powder, Tulip Frame Border TIEF, Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon

Googly Ghouls - Mojo Monday sketch

Here is a sweet little Halloween card using the Googly Ghouls stamp set from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog. I used a past Mojo Monday sketch for the layout and the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for all the background pieces. Those Googly Eyes on my mummy are also a new embellishment offered from Stampin' Up! to coordinate with this set. And Stampin' Up! offers these separately or as 15% off Bundle which includes the Googly Ghouls stamp set, Googlies eyes and a Designer Kit with Glassine Bags, pre-printed Double-Sided Tags, and Pumpkin Pie Baker's Twine.

If you look closer at my sweet mummy you can see a few lines of Crystal Effects to make his wrappings a little shiny. Tied off with a Daffodil Delight Seam Binding bow, he doesn't look too scary! Oh, and that sharp edged scallop - that's made by double punching our Scallop Circle Punch. I punched a Basic Black Scallop Circle and then stuck it on the edge of a Post-It note (to hold it) and then put it back in the Scallop Circle Punch, just spun enough to offset the scallops. This is a great way to achieve a very different look with the same tool - from soft and feminine to sharper and edgy.

Recipe:
Stamps: Googly Ghouls
Inks: StazOn Jet Black
Cardstock: Wild Wasabi, Basic Black, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
Accessories: Googlies, Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon, Chevron TIEF, Crystal Effects, Scallop Circle Punch, Circle Punch
