Split Negative Technique with Magnificent Maple

The Stampin' Addicts Recycle Challenge this week is hosted by me! And one of my favorite techniques is Heat Embossing - I always just LOVE watching that shiny finish appear under the Heat gun! And within Heat Embossing is this great technique - Split Negative. This is an easy variation of Heat Embossing with such a unique look when you're finished.

I used Very Vanilla and Early Espresso cardstock with Whisper White and Early Espresso Embossing Powders. To take the stark edge off the Embossed White, I sponged over it with a Sponge Dauber and Early Espresso ink. This stains the white embossing to look more Vanilla. You can see where I did that with the sentiment as well - although it's not as sharply apparent on the card as it is in this photo.

I hope you'll play along with a Split Negative card, be sure to post your creation on the Stampin' Addicts Challenge thread and PIN it on Pinterest!
